Kevin was elected to the Department December 3rd, 1979
and served faithfully for 17½ years. Kevin married into a fire department “family” when on September 21st, 1974 he exchanged vows with the former Margaret “Peggy” Kelly.
Peggy’s father William and brothers Francis and Jack served with NHFD for a combined 71½ years. Not only active on the fireground, Kevin excelled in the firehouse kitchen and on the softball field. Truth be told, Kevin was recruited for his pitching skills and he was a force to be reckoned with throughout the Oneida County Firemen’s Softball League.
Kevin and Peggy shared nearly 47 years of marital bliss and raised three children, Kevin Jr., Kelly and Scott, out of their
Village home. They would eventually welcome three precious grandchildren too.
Kevin went honorary on June 2nd, 1997 but still continued to support his brother and sister firefighters whether through cooking at Department functions or attending banquets and family picnics.
