Fire Station

The current fire station was opened in August 1973. It replaced a three-bay fire station on Park Street that the department called home for 70 years, and outgrew as the size and number of motor fire apparatus quickly increased. Our headquarters serves as a second home for many of our members, with all the amenities of a career fire station. Our in-house museum is a symbol of our rich history.

Engine 1

Engine 1 is a 2015 Pierce Velocity Pumper and is one of two front-line fire engines for the Village & Town of New Hartford. It responds either first or second to all reported structure fires, automatic alarms, investigations, gas emergencies, and several other types of incidents in the fire district. It carries all the necessary firefighting and rescue equipment to serve our community.

Engine 2

Engine 2 is a 2025 Pierce Velocity “attack” pumper. It responds first-out to all structure fires, alarm calls, investigations, and gas emergencies within New Hartford. It carries over 3,000 feet of attack and supply hose and other typical suburban firefighting equipment. It has 1,000 gallons of water on-board and boasts a 1,500 gpm pump, as well as on-board firefighting foam.”

Engine 3

Engine 3 is a 2013 Pierce Velocity Pumper and is first out for all motor vehicle accidents and automobile fires or related incidents, and third for all other fire emergencies.

Tower 1

Tower 1 is a 2020 Pierce Velocity Ascendant Platform featuring a remote controlled 100′ aerial platform, 2000 GPM pump and 300 gallon water tank. It is the third apparatus out of the firehouse for all reported structure fires, automatic alarms, investigations, and other special incidents as requested by the officer in charge. Its ladder is capable of reaching 100 feet and is capable of loading a victim onto the bucket via a Stokes rescue basket. It has a remote-controlled master stream monitor on the bucket for aerial attacks on structure fires.

The truck carries a full complement of firefighting & technical rescue equipment, and also has a remotely monitored thermal imaging camera in the bucket.

Rescue 1

Rescue 1 is a 2021 Ford F-550 Pierce Rescue. It responds to all motor vehicle accidents within the fire district and other incidents as requested by the officer in charge. It carries a full complement of vehicular extrication rescue & stabilization equipment, as well as BLS (basic life support) capabilities including:

  • Hydraulic & Battery Powered Jaws of Life
  • SCBA Equipped
  • Full complement of vehicular stabilization & extrication equipment
  • BLS Rescue equipment

Rescue 2

Rescue 2 is a 2010 Pierce Velocity Heavy Rescue and is the department’s heavy rescue/salvage vehicle. It responds to all reported structure fires, automatic alarms, investigations, gas emergencies, secondary alarms for motor vehicle accidents, and any other incidents as requested by the officer in charge.

It carries a full range of firefighting equipment including:

  • Air packs
  • Hand tools
  • Rescue saws
  • Technical rescue equipment
  • Vehicular stabilization & extrication equipment
  • Onboard cascade system that allows us to fill air bottles on-scene
  • Onboard generator, and several other types of emergency equipment.

It is also BLS (basic life support) equipped, like all apparatus. It has a full command center in the rear of the cab, allowing commanding officers to run an emergency scene/incident out of the elements. This truck has a 20′ light mast, as well as a 20′ camera mast with night & thermal vision capabilities.

Squad 1

Squad 1 is a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. It is a general-purpose utility pickup that responds to any alarms as requested by the officer in charge. It carries First Aid equipment, a carbon monoxide meter, and traffic control equipment.

EMS 1

EMS 1 is a 2016 Admiral Chevrolet Suburban and is one of two front-line emergency medical vehicles and responds to all medical emergencies within the fire district. It was purchased by the NHFD Fireman’s Benevolent Association and donated to the Village of New Hartford. It has a full complement of Basic and Advanced life support equipment. These vehicles roll out of the firehouse on a daily basis, usually more than once, and more than any other fire apparatus.
