The New Hartford Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division is dedicated to being tasked with providing continuous education in fire safety and prevention to the schools and members of our community. With the help of uniquely and individually created programs, the committee has successfully targeted children and teenagers, as well as adults in effective fire safety education.
FASNY Fire Safety Educator of The Year Award - 2016
The New Hartford Fire Department is proud to announce that Firefighter William J. Wren has been awarded the FASNY (Firemen’s Association of The State of New York) Fire Safety Educator of The Year Award for 2016. Firefighter Wren is extremely active with the NHFD Fire Prevention Committee and has been instrumental in the success of our newly created Junior and Senior High Fire Prevention programs. Firefighter Wren has over thirty years of experience and has held multiple offices with the NHFD. Bill is also a New York State Fire Instructor.
Fire Safety Tips

- Change batteries in smoke, fire, and carbon monoxide detectors when you change the time on your clock.
- Observe all safety precautions for outdoor burning as wildfire season begins in the spring. DO NOT burn anything outside until you check with your local Codes Inspector, Fire Chief, or Forest Ranger.
